I recently finished the MASTERMINDS trilogy by Gordon Korman and have added them to my list of all-time favorites.

The first book was published in 2015 by Balzer + Bray, an imprint of HarperCollins. The sequels followed in 2016 and ’17. They are middle-grade novels, intended for ages 8 to 12, however teens and adults will love them as well.
They have everything I want from a story.
Fun, likable characters in a unique, intriguing situation.
Humor.
Mystery.
Suspense.
Edge-of-your-seat action sequences.
I was hooked from the beginning, reading at a frantic pace, intrigued and entertained 100%.
But don’t take my word for it. Here’s what others have said:

For a spoiler-free plot description, check out the back cover of book one:

A word of caution, though. Don’t read the back covers of books 2 and 3 until you’ve read book 1, as they give away a significant reveal from the first book. Thankfully, I didn’t purchase 2 and 3 until after I read book 1, but for anyone buying all three at once, be careful not to glance at the back covers.
They should be in stock in the children’s department at B&N. Please support your local bookstore, when possible. Every purchase is a vote to keep a bookstore open in your community!
