With Halloween around the corner, it’s a great time to talk about scary stories.
A fantastic, spooky read (recommended for ages 10 to 14) is DOLL BONES by Holly Black.
DOLL BONES was published by McElderry Books in 2013 and is a Newbery Honor book. It also features some fun illustrations by Eliza Wheeler.
The main characters are kids who play with toys, and on page 2 we see that one of them has a LADY JAYE action figure from the G.I. JOE line. A figure I happen to have in my collection:
I gotta say, this book had me at LADY JAYE. At that point, I was 99% sure I was going to love this adventure, and I was right!
